There is a view that to prevent accidents on the roads, government can do nothing but implement more severe rules and fines. I partially disagree with this notion, as stricter punishments can make people more cautious and disciplined. However, I also believe that improving the quality of driving tests and trainings can make a real difference.
Governing bodies should introduce new laws and regulations regarding road safety to make people more responsible and alert. Implementing more severe regulations such as suspension of driving licences or even imprisonment, may contribute positively to the the rate of offenses on the roads. For example, if a person commits driving offenses several times, one must be deprived of driving rights or even sentenced to imprisonment for a certain period. This can allow people to understand dire reppercussions of committing a crime, lowering the chances of them engaging even in minor road accidents.
While stricter punishments can make a positive contribution to crime rates on roads, investing in driving tests and trainings can also be an effective solution. In other words, some people simply fail to gain sufficient knowledge to drive safely, making them potential offenders in the future. This means those driving trainings and tests must be monitored closely to effectively teach prospective drivers. As a result, those well-taught drivers acquire enough knowledge to understand how to behave while driving, ensuring they are aware of all rules and regulations. In general, these measurements may make roads safer, as fewer offences will occur.
In conclusion, the given viewpoint that officials can only impose more rigid regulations to improve road safety is only partially true I believe, and better preparation of drivers can also reduce the level of offenses on the roads.

This is a well-structured essay that clearly addresses the prompt and maintains a consistent position. The candidate demonstrates a strong command of complex grammatical structures and a good range of vocabulary, though minor errors in spelling and word choice prevent a higher score in those categories.
Task Response - 7
- Addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the 'stricter punishment' view and alternative solutions. - Presents a clear position throughout the response (partial disagreement). - Main ideas are extended and supported, though the explanation of how training reduces accidents could be more specific (e.g., hazard perception).
Coherence & Cohesion - 7
- Information is organized logically with a clear progression from the introduction to the conclusion. - Each paragraph has a clear central topic (punishments in paragraph 2, training in paragraph 3). - Cohesive devices such as 'In other words' and 'As a result' are used appropriately, though 'these measurements' is a slight misuse of 'measures'.
Lexical Resource - 7
- Uses a sufficient range of vocabulary to allow flexibility (e.g., 'dire repercussions', 'prospective drivers', 'deprived of'). - Some awareness of style and collocation is shown, though there are spelling errors like 'reppercussions'. - There is occasional word choice inaccuracy, such as 'measurements' instead of 'measures'.
Grammatical Range & Accuracy - 7
- A variety of complex structures are used, including conditional sentences and modal verbs. - Frequent error-free sentences are produced throughout the text. - Good control of grammar and punctuation is evident, though some minor slips like 'the the' and 'one must' occur.
