In modern age, huge number of people rely on car for their day-to-day household, interpersonal and work-related necessities. However, this phenomenon creates some problems. This essay will discuss the exact issues it causes, such as pollution of environment and negative effect on peoples' health and examine whether it is a good idea to discourage people from using automobiles.

To begin with, limitless usage of motor cars leads to contamination, as extravagant amount of petrolium-based fuels critically affects our air. Dangerous greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide can drive climate change, deteriorate air-quality and create a harmful smog. For instance, the capital of Uzbekistan has taken the rating of the most terrible air in the world, because of extreme usage of vehicles in the city.

Moreover, people's tendency to always depend on their cars leads to the health worsening as they develop sedentary lifestyle. It is well-known fact that active lifestyle has a huge impact on individuals' well-being. However, with immoderate reliance on automobile significantly worsens the activity in life. As the evidence show, individuals who walk at least 8,000 steps per day have much better health quality than those who do not. As for solution, I strongly believe that dissuading people from using machines frequently can make the situation better. Governments should raise awareness about the actual issues to enhance the quality of environment and lead citizens to a healthier lifestyle. To sum up, unlimited use of motor cars causes environmental and health-related problems. This, however, can be solved by detering citizens from extravagant car usage and informing them about dramatical problems caused by this tendency.

Examiner feedback

This is a solid Band 7.0 performance. The writer presents a clear response to the prompt with relevant, well-supported arguments and a logical structure. To reach a higher band, the writer should focus on eliminating minor grammatical slips (articles and subject-verb agreement) and ensuring that synonyms for 'cars' are contextually appropriate (e.g., 'vehicles' is better than 'machines').

Task Response - 7

The essay addresses all parts of the task by identifying two distinct problems: environmental pollution and physical health issues. - Ideas are extended with specific examples, such as the air quality in Uzbekistan and the 8,000-step health metric. - The student includes a solution paragraph even though the prompt only asked for 'problems'; while not strictly required, it shows a clear position. However, more depth on the 'social' or 'working' needs mentioned in the prompt could have strengthened the response.

Coherence & Cohesion - 7

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. - Cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'As for solution' are used effectively to guide the reader. - Each paragraph has a clear central topic, though the transition to the 'solution' section is slightly abrupt within the structure of the response.

Lexical Resource - 7

A good range of vocabulary is used (e.g., 'sedentary lifestyle', 'immoderate reliance', 'greenhouse gases', 'deteriorate'). - There are some inaccuracies in word formation and spelling: 'petrolium' instead of 'petroleum', 'dramatical' instead of 'dramatic'. - Some expressions are slightly unnatural, such as 'taken the rating' (instead of 'ranked') or 'using machines' (as a synonym for cars).

Grammatical Range & Accuracy - 6

A mix of simple and complex sentence forms is used throughout the essay. - There are several frequent errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable: 'In modern age' (missing 'the'), 'huge number' (missing 'a'), and 'evidence show' (subject-verb agreement). - Punctuation is generally good, but some sentence constructions are slightly clunky (e.g., 'However, with immoderate reliance on automobile significantly worsens...').
