The table illustrates how the number of adults and children taking part in a wildlife survey in Britain changed between 2001 and 2009.

Overall, it is clear that the number of both adults and children increased notably in the initial years before falling moderately by the end of the timeframe, particularly for adults. Meanwhile, the total number of participants increased overall throughout the period.

The number of adult and child participants grew significantly over the timeframe. Starting with 36,000 adult participants and 12,000 children, these figures rose substantially to 212,000 and 36,000 in 2003, recording a total of 248,000 participants, and grew further to 332,000 for the former, while the latter dropped slightly to 32,000 in 2005, resulting in an overall participation of 364,000.

From that year onwards, the number of participants decreased slightly. The numbers of adult and child participants fell marginally to 331,000 and 31,000 respectively in 2007 before finishing the period at 270,000 and 50,000. As a result, the total number of participants reached 320,000 in 2009.
