The table shows how water is used for domestic, industrial, and agricultural purposes in four countries.
Overall, agriculture uses the largest share of water in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, while industry is the main user in Canada and New Zealand. Domestic use is the smallest category in all four countries.
In Egypt, most water is used for agriculture, which accounts for 82%, while industry and domestic use are much lower, at 10% and 8% respectively. A similar pattern can be seen in Saudi Arabia, where farming uses 64% of water, compared with 30% for industry and only 6% for homes.
By contrast, industrial water use is highest in Canada and New Zealand. In Canada, industry consumes 70% of water, while agriculture uses just 10%, the lowest figure in the table. New Zealand also shows high industrial use at 46%, followed closely by agriculture at 44%. Domestic use in these two countries remains relatively low, at 20% in Canada and 10% in New Zealand.
