The three tables compare the opinions of club members and the general public about a new theatre in one town in 2012. The respondents rated the theatre’s production quality, information about plays and performances, and facilities as excellent, satisfactory or poor.
Overall, the majority of people in both groups gave positive ratings in all three categories. Club members were more positive about the theatre’s facilities and production quality, whereas the general public had a more favourable opinion of the information provided about plays and performances. The largest difference occurred in the ratings for the facilities.
Regarding production quality, 70% of club members rated it as excellent, compared with a slightly lower figure of 67% among the general public. Similar proportions considered the quality satisfactory, at 17% and 18% respectively, while 13% of club members and 15% of the public gave a poor rating.
The opinions differed more considerably concerning information about performances. While 72% of club members considered this excellent, the figure for the general public was significantly higher, at 88%. Only 5% and 2% respectively rated it poor. For the theatre’s facilities, 75% of club members gave an excellent rating, compared with just 55% of the general public. In contrast, 26% of the public described the facilities as poor, whereas only 2% of club members did so. ([IELTSXpress][1])
