The diagram illustrates the process of growing and preparing pineapples and pineapple products.
Overall, the process consists of eight main stages, beginning with the cultivation of pineapples and ending with the production of pineapple juice, canned pineapples, or fresh pineapples for export. It is a linear process that branches into three different production lines.
The process begins with pineapples being grown in warm temperatures of 28–30°C, with each plant spaced 26 cm apart. After seven months, chemicals are applied to the plants, which continue growing for another five months until the fruit reaches approximately 30 cm in height and weighs around 2 kg. The harvested pineapples are then washed with water.
Following this, the process is divided into three separate pathways. For juice production, the crown is removed, the fruit is sliced, and the pieces are processed in an extractor to produce pineapple juice. Similarly, for canned pineapples, the top is cut off before the fruit is sliced and packed into cans. Alternatively, pineapples intended for export are coated with wax, packed into crates, and finally transported overseas by ship.
