The bar charts illustrate the percentage of males and females in Great Britian who had driving licences between 1976 and 2006, and the proportion of young drivers who applied for driving licenses at the age of 17-20, over a decade (1996-2006).

Overall, it can be clearly seen that men consistently had higher proportion of driving license than women throughout the period. The percentage of both genders who had driving license increased gradually over time. In contrast, the proportion of young drivers declined for both sexes over the 10 period.

Turning to the gender comparison, having driving license was more popular among men than women. In 1976, the percentage of men having driving license was 70%, almost double the proportion of women at 30%. The figures rose gradually over the following years. By 2006, the percentage for males had reached around 80%, while the figure for females had increased significantly to approximately 60%.

Regarding young drivers who applied for driving license at the age of 17-20, both genders experienced decreases throughout the period. Men accounted for 50% at the beginning of the period, compared with 30% for women. Over the 10 period, both percentages had fallen. The proportion of young males decreased slightly to about 45%, whereas the figure for young females declined significantly to 20%.
