The bar charts compare the percentage of films released in four genres and the proportion of cinema ticket sales for those genres in a particular country in 1996 and 2000.

Overall, drama and comedy accounted for the largest shares of films released in both years, while romance represented the smallest proportion. In terms of ticket sales, comedy attracted the highest percentage of audiences, whereas fantasy showed the most noticeable increase between the two years.

The most significant share of film releases belonged to drama, accounting for about 27% in 1996 and rising markedly to approximately 35% in 2000. Comedy ranked second, increasing from around 20% to 25% over the same period. A similar upward trend can be seen in fantasy, which grew from roughly 12% to about 16%. By contrast, romance films made up the smallest proportion of releases, remaining relatively stable at around 6–7% in both years.

As far as cinema ticket sales are concerned, comedy generated the highest proportion of sales, climbing from about 20% in 1996 to roughly 23% in 2000. Drama followed, with a slight increase from approximately 16% to 17%. Meanwhile, fantasy experienced a notable rise, more than doubling from around 3% to about 7%. In contrast, romance ticket sales declined considerably, falling from roughly 5% in 1996 to only about 2% in 2000.
