The diagram illustrates the construction process of a modern landfill for local waste.Overall, the process consists of four main stages, beginning with creating a hole in natural rock, followed by lining the hole with synthetic lining and drainage pipes. After that, the hole is filled with household waste and finally the landfill is sealed with clay.

The first stage of this process involves digging a man-made hole into natural rock. The hole is dug deep into the ground in order to create enough space for waste in the future. In the second stage, the inside of the hole is lined with synthetic material in order to prevent contamination. The drainage pipes are placed at the top of the synthetic lining and the drainage tank is installed at the bottom. Clay is also added to the inside surface of the hole to prevent waste liquid from leaking into the ground.

In the third stage, the landfill is filled with household waste by garbage trucks and waste liquid is produced and collected by the drainage system that was installed in the previous stage. In the final stage, the surface of the landfill is sealed with clay cover, while a pipe is installed to allow gases to escape.
