The tables provide information about the consumption and production of potatoes in five parts of the world in 2006.

Overall, it can be seen that Europe had the highest potato consumption, while Africa had the lowest figure. In contrast, Asia/Oceana produced the largest amount of potatoes during the period.

Looking at the details, people in Europe ate 96.1 kg of potatoes per person, which was much higher than in the other regions. North America was second at 57.9 kg per person. Asia/Oceania and South and Central America had similar figures, at 25.8 kg and 23.6 kg respectively. Africa showed the lowest consumption with only 14.1 kg per person.

Regarding potato production, Asia\Oceana had the highest figure at 131.2 million tonnes. Europe followed closely with 126.3 million tonnes. North America produced a much lower amount at 24.7 million tonnes. Finally, Africa and South and Central America had the smallest production figures, at 16.4 million and 15.6 million tonnes respectively.
