The table and line graph illustrate cinema attendance in Australia and the average number of cinema visits between 1996 and 2000. The line graph also compares cinema visits among four different age groups over the same period.

Overall, cinema attendance remained relatively high throughout the five years, while the average number of visits declined after 1997. In addition, people aged 14–24 consistently visited the cinema more frequently than the other age groups, whereas those aged 50 and over recorded the lowest figures.

According to the table, the percentage of Australians who attended the cinema increased significantly from 62% in 1996 to 72% in 1997. It remained unchanged in 1998, fell slightly to 70% in 1999, and then recovered to 72% in 2000. By contrast, the average number of cinema visits rose from 10.3 to 11.1 between 1996 and 1997 before dropping sharply to 8.3 in 1998. This figure remained almost stable at around 8.2–8.3 during the final two years.

Regarding the line graph, all four age groups followed a similar pattern. Cinema visits increased from 1996 to 1997, declined in 1998, peaked again in 1999, and then fell slightly in 2000. The 14–24 age group had the highest number of visits throughout the period, reaching approximately 23 visits in 1999. The 25–35 group ranked second, followed by those aged 35–49. In contrast, the 50+ group consistently had the lowest level of cinema attendance, although it also experienced the same overall trend as the younger groups.
