The table illustrates school teacher salaries in five countries in 2016. It gives information about wages at the beginning of their career, after 15 years, and maximum salary.

Overall, regarding salary, teachers have different starting points, which increased in 15 years and again in different rates. Max salary and the years to achieve it differ by country as well.

Teachers in Belgium have the lowest starting salary, which is a little above 15 thousand USD annually. The Portugees theachers start with 2 thousand USD more than their colleagues from Belgium. Leaders in this index are teachers from Japan and Denmark, who get just above 38 thousand and 31 thousand USD, respectively. After 15 years, the Australian teachers have the biggest increase, from about 22 thousand to 69.6 thousand USD per year. In contrast, teachers from Portugal go through the smallest growth in salary, by 6.8 thousand, reaching 23.9 thousand USD.

Teachers from Australia get the highest maximum salary among the five countries, which is 77 thousand USD annually. Moreover, they reach the maximum salary in 19 years, which is the shortest period. In Japan and Denmark, teachers grow to their highest wages in 27 and 30 years reaching 68 thousand and 63 thousand USD respectively. Belgium and Portugal have modest results, that is 35 thousand and 32 thousand USD per year in 25 and 22 years, accordingly.
